A character named Jake James writes a column for the weekly triCity News.  The TCN is a free newspaper that you can pick up in a bunch of restaurants and stores in Asbury Park, Long Branch and Red Bank (all Monmouth County, New Jersey cities).  But back to Jake............

Jake's column reviews "local" web sites.  The first review of his that I read, reviewed about 6 or 7 sites.  Yeeecccchhhh!  Although there were a couple (read two!) of good sites in the mix, the rest were quite typical boring business sites, yet old Jake raved about each and every one.  Either this was Jake's first day on the Internet or he was told to give them great reviews because the businesses were being wooed as potential TCN advertisers.  In fairness to Jake, he did state that he's open to bribes in exchange for good reviews.  I hope they were ample bribes.

As a webmaster myself, I could not take this lying down.  I wrote Jake telling him what I thought of the sites and his review of them.  I suggested he visit and write a review of my site.  Much to my surprise, he did just that.  To read his review click on the picture to the left which will pop up a version that may actually be large enough to read.
