On Sunday, October 5th, man's best friend took to the skies in the 33rd year of organized canine disc events at the the 2008 Middletown Skyhoundz Canine Disc championships.

The Yankee Flyers Dog & Disc Club once again sponsored this canine disc competition at Stevenson Park.

Competition was fast and furious in the perfect Fall day for canine disc!   Teams came from CT, NY, PA and of course, NJ to compete in 3 classes; 

• Distance Accuracy - Open
• Distance Accuracy Novice 
• Freestyle - Open

We had experienced teams as well as first-timers competing.  

There were two special annual awards presented; the Chewy Award and the Rudy Award in honor of two Frisbeedogs we lost in 2007.  

Chewy Award 

Presented to the highest placing "first-time competitors" in honor of the fact that our Middletown Skyhoundz Local was the first event Chewy ever competed in.  The winners of this years Chewy Award were Strider and Lynn.

Rudy Award

Given to the highest placing Labrador Retriever. We're proud that the winners of this year's Rudy Award are our friends Norbert Jackson (a yellow Lab) and Alan.  NJ is just 10 months old and finished in 2nd place overall in the Open D/A competition.  

 Starz getting some "Big Air" at this year's event.  Starz was the 3rd place winner in this years Freestyle.
